Zero-Trust model of cybersecurity

An effective approach to prevent data breaches and mitigate the risk of supply chain attacks

Description
Zero Trust security is an IT security model that requires strict identity verification for every person and device trying to access resources on a private network, regardless of whether they are sitting within or outside of the network perimeter. ZTNA is the main technology associated with Zero Trust architecture, but Zero Trust is a holistic approach to network security that incorporates several different principles and technologies. The concept of Zero-Trust has been around for a while. While this model has been widely recognized as an effective approach to prevent data breaches and mitigate the risk of supply chain attacks, its adoption across the industries has to be consistent and faster.

Cybersecurity Statistics for 2021 predicts that by the end of 2021, cybercrime is expected to cost the world $6 trillion. By 2025, this figure will climb to $10.5 trillion. The Cybersecurity Ventures analysis predicts that there will be a new attack every 2 seconds as ransomware perpetrators progressively refine their malware payloads and related extortion activities. A new study says by cybersecurity company BlueVoyant shows that the supply chain is a magnet for cyber breaches. A whopping 97% of firms have been impacted by a cybersecurity breach in their supply chain, and 93% admitted that they have suffered a direct cybersecurity breach because of weaknesses in their supply chain. By adopting the zero trust model in the infrastructure, the manufacturing sector could become prepared.
