Gap between large and small companies is growing
“There’s a huge difference between really innovative companies and the bulk of the European manufacturing industry”
Description
(1:39) “There’s a huge difference between really innovative companies and then the bulk of the European manufacturing industry is basically SMEs… Obviously, I wouldn’t say there’s no innovation. There is innovation there, but they’re struggling to get that innovation. They’re struggling to have the adequate means and technology and access to technologies and specifically access to the adequate skills, which might be easier for big multinational companies. But for the SMEs, maybe it’s not so easy. Technology is changing really fast, so much that it’s almost impossible to have access to the required skills, unless you’re a big, big company.”
Relevance
Many companies are pressed about what is happening and pressed with the now, especially SME’s do not have the privilege to think and always act long term. Collaborating within an ecosystem could support all stakeholders within the European manufacturing system to have the competitive advantages of new technologies and being able to prioritise it at the same time.
