Programme description

This programme is an intricate fusion of various key components that collectively equip students with a well-rounded understanding of the manufacturing field. It encompasses an exploration of manufacturing science, which delves into the underlying physics of equipment and processes. This aspect of the curriculum provides students with a deep knowledge of the fundamental principles that govern the machinery and techniques used in manufacturing.

Furthermore, the programme includes a comprehensive study of data analysis. Here, students learn not only how to gather and analyze data but also the methodology for effectively utilizing this acquired process data to enhance and maintain process quality. This ensures that graduates are not just proficient in gathering data but also skilled in translating it into actionable insights to drive improvements in manufacturing processes.

In addition, the programme emphasizes process management, equipping students with the skills and knowledge required to oversee and optimize manufacturing processes. This includes an exploration of the flexibility needed for handling smaller production batches, a crucial aspect in today’s diverse manufacturing landscape. Graduates are thus well-prepared to manage manufacturing processes effectively, even in scenarios involving smaller lot production, thereby making them adaptable and versatile professionals in the field of manufacturing.

Upon graduating from the Master’s in Zero Defect Manufacturing for a Circular Economy (ZD) programme, students will be able to:

  • Apply their acquired engineering knowledge in Zero Defect to develop novel or enhanced methods, techniques, products, and services within their field.
  • Demonstrate creativity in problem-solving, thinking innovatively to address real-world challenges and generating fresh ideas.
  • Formulate comprehensive plans and make decisions while considering future consequences from scientific, ethical, and societal perspectives.
  • Translate innovations within the field into viable and successful business solutions, fostering entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Collaborate effectively within small team settings, taking into account all pertinent factors and showcasing strong decision-making and leadership skills.
