SUPSI is the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, integrated within the Swiss University Federal framework. The Department of Innovative Technologies deals with engineering sciences and applications in the following sectors: Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Mechanics and Industrial Production. The Department’s work in the field of engineering and its industrial applications is promoted through university courses and continuing education programmes, as well as through applied research and technology transfer projects with companies.

Studying at SUPSI

The EIT Master School Master’s programme is offered by the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) that carries out undergraduate and graduate studies and continuing education, research and technology transfer in Engineering in the fields of electronics, information technology, artificial intelligence, mechanics, industrial production and medical technology.

The DTI carries out qualified applied research through 6 complementary institutes relying on more than 20 specialized technological laboratories. With a yearly financial volume of research of 25 millions of CHF, the department ensures that state-of-the-art knowledge is transferred into educational programmes.

The master programmes offered by DTI has a highly practical orientation offering several activities that allow students to be very close to the professional practice during their study. Projects are, indeed, carried out in collaboration with the research teams taking advantage of the department’s laboratories and of the industrial network it interacts with.

DTI is located in the heart of Lugano, the largest city in both Ticino and the Italian-speaking region of southern Switzerland. The city lies on lake Lugano and the region it belongs to is surrounded by the Prealps. The climate is one of the mildest in the country.
