Design The Future with Additive Manufacturing (DT Future)

Technology assessment of AM indicates that it can apply to a wide spectrum of applications ranging from the early stages of product development to the final production stages, with multiple process machines and industrial equipment.

Additive Manufacturing is trusted to be a major freeform-geometry manufacturing enabler. However, the design of the part carries a significant impact on the performance and the cost of the parts’ manufacturing. DT FUTURE will bring the design knowledge currently being held in small groups and in the form of tacit industrial knowledge for AM manufacturing to a more explicit design framework that will educate the design professionals for AM. DT FUTURE consortium is composed of a triptych of industrial partners familiar with the manufacturability aspects of AM, partners in academia that will establish the design framework, and training and software development partners that will secure the transition of AM knowledge to a broad AM audience.
