EIT Manufacturing welcomes EU Clean Industrial Deal
European industries face growing challenges from geopolitical tensions, high energy costs and global competition. In response to these challenges, the EU has developed a plan to support its industries. The EU’s Clean Industrial Deal, published on 26 February 2025, offers a strategic framework for enhancing EU competitiveness and accelerating decarbonisation.
EIT Manufacturing welcomes the Deal, which is designed to help European industries tackle three main challenges, namely the climate crisis, declining global competitiveness and economic resilience. Its focus on sustainable and resilient production aligns with EIT Manufacturing’s mission to drive innovation and empower Europe’s manufacturing ecosystem.
EIT Manufacturing supports the vision outlined in the Deal to achieve competitiveness and decarbonisation, specifically through:
- Fostering sustainable and resilient production in Europe.
- Highlighting the skills dimension, as a key driver for a thriving European industrial ecosystem.
- The Circular Economy Act, as a key initiative to drive the EU’s circular transition and achieve climate neutrality – incorporating a focus on remanufacturing.
- Leveraging private funding to maintain the EU’s global relevance and boost competitiveness.
- The “Made in Europe” approach, highlighted in the Deal, providing clear incentives for manufacturers to ramp up production in the EU.
- A more comprehensive approach that considers the entire value chain.
