Organised by EIT Manufacturing together with EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Urban Mobility, EIT Health, EIT Food and EIT Raw Materials, the EIT Jumpstarter programme has trained more than 570 start-up teams since 2017, and interest in the competition is growing each year! The reason behind this success is the creative community, advanced know-how, unique programme, expert trainers, and mentors behind. In 2019, EIT Jumpstarter won the Best Association Training Initiative Award of the European Association Awards!
The six EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) communities team up to jointly run EIT Jumpstarter, bringing together businesses, research centres and universities as partners creating a favourable environment for creative thought and innovation to flourish.
The goal of the EIT Jumpstarter is to help young innovators from those EU regions[1], which are moderate in terms of innovations[2], to turn their scientific ideas and discoveries into successful businesses. To do so, in this pre-accelerator and talent scout programme, we help high-potential early-stage teams to develop their business idea through a series of training, expert mentoring and subgranting. In addition, the best-selected teams have the opportunity to win 10,000€, 7,500€ and 5,000€ monetary prizes and access to the EIT Communities network.
In 2021, we received 548 applications, 240 of them had access to a unique training programme thanks to which they have learnt the basics of building a viable business model with the help of mentors who have given them invaluable insights. Out of those teams, 42 had the chance to pitch in front of a jury of experts and compete for financial prizes.
Those Manufacturing teams have been trained and mentored by EIT Manufacturing community, who will continue supporting them as innovative entrepreneurs and integrate them in our community. They will have the chance to continue growing through different “Business Creation” programmes to scale-up their idea, internationalize it or get funding and investment.
