Cross-Border Innovation Roundtable Drives Collaboration and Innovation
In an effort to tackle global challenges and cultivate innovation, the Cross-Border Innovation Roundtable was recently held on April 10th-11th in Vienna. Led by EIT Manufacturing in partnership with the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, this collaborative initiative aims to allocate resources towards initiatives that enhance digital transformation processes and promote international collaboration.
The overarching goal was to define concrete ideas for actionable collaboration under the framework of the EIT Manufacturing – Slovakia – X Fund. This initiative showcases a commitment to advancing innovation and fostering international exchange between Slovak and European researchers.
As part of the two-day workshop, the group of European researchers from the following universities: Jozef Stefan Institute, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Technical University of Košice, University College Dublin, RISC Software GmbH, University of Applied Sciences Vienna, University of Patras, and TUIasi PhD Studies, had the opportunity to tour the TU Wien IFT Tech Lab and get a closer look at the supercomputer VSC-5, the most modern supercomputer in Austria.
The roundtable commenced with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Andreas Otto of ÖWGP – the Austrian Scientific Society of Production Technology.
He emphasized ÖWGP’s mission to “drive future value creation in Austria and Europe through interdisciplinary research and education with a focus on trend discussion, technology assessment, international exchange, and communication with decision-makers.”

Participating researchers engaged in lively discussions and exchanged ideas, paving the way for tangible projects and collaborations that will drive innovation and address pressing global challenges.
