The Manufacturing Day 2024 is part of ViennaUP.
The Manufacturing Day 2024 is the leading event for the manufacturing industry during ViennaUP’24, the largest decentralised startup festival in Europe. For the fourth time in a row, EIT Manufacturing is bringing together startups, key industrial players, investors, researchers and experts to celebrate the achievements and potential of the European manufacturing industry.
In 2024, the event’s theme is “The Speed of Innovation” aiming to highlight the speed of technological developments and innovation activities in the global manufacturing industry. Renowned speakers from all over the world will provide insights into mechanisms and approaches that allow companies to accelerate their innovation processes and thus create a competitive advantage.
The Manufacturing Day aims to showcase the latest innovations and technologies that are driving this transition and to inspire the next generation of manufacturing professionals to take an active role in shaping the future of the industry. The event offers a varied and rich programme for and with startups in the manufacturing industry and is a platform for industry representatives to exchange ideas and network.
We are proud to announce our keynote speaker:
Dr. Steven J. Spear, Author and Senior Lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management
MIT Senior Lecturer Steven Spear’s keynote speech will focus on the crucial role of agility and adaptability for enterprises striving to outpace their counterparts in generating and delivering solutions to complex challenges. As detailed in his book, “Wiring the Winning Organization,” Spear will discuss the paradox of certain companies excelling in producing more value with less effort and resource consumption. Spear will outline three essential mechanisms employed by these successful entities. First, “slowification” transforms conditions from reactive, impulsive thinking to deliberate, generative problem-solving. Second, “simplification” breaks down large, complex problems into more manageable components. Third, “amplification” highlights existing problems and successful resolutions. By fostering a culture of “slow thinking,” simplifying challenges, and amplifying the importance of problem-solving, organisations can navigate the evolving landscape of the manufacturing industry with increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Following the initial sessions, experts from politics, industry, and research will delve into discussions focusing on the essential prerequisites and framework conditions that foster innovation in dedicated round tables. The event will showcase the key role of international collaboration with startups and technologically advanced companies in empowering both established large enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses to bolster their innovation efforts and harness cutting-edge technologies.
A highlight of the event will be the BoostUp! startup pitching competition, where European industrial tech startups will pitch their innovative solutions to a global audience and an expert jury.
At Manufacturing Day 2024, the focus once again will be on connecting the active players in the manufacturing industry to initiate strong partnerships and collaborations and drive innovation forward. You can schedule physical 1:1 meetings in our Matchmaking Area during the networking sessions of the event. The booking phase starts on 1 May 2024.
After the event, you will also have the chance to schedule online meetings with other participants.
Participation to this event is free of charge. Join us in Vienna!
The event will be on-site only!
