About the project

SUPERNOVAS aims to increase the number of women in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the investment industry through an EIT Community project involving EIT Manufacturing, EIT Food and EIT Urban Mobility.

Purpose of the project

Increasing the number of women in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the investment industry by offering:

  • Support for the internationalisation of female-led startups.
  • Training for women in STEAM, to enter the investment industry and job opportunities in VC funds.
  • Training for female entrepreneurs, to improve their leadership skills.
  • Training, networking, and investing opportunities for junior and senior female investors.
  • Accurate information and visibility for female-led startups.

Improve gender balance and equality in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the investment industry.

Main results & insights

In 2022:

Rocket-Up activity: 10 female-led startups supported in their internationalisation.

Women 2 Invest: 66 women in STEAM trained to enter the investment industry, with 16 finding a job or an internship in venture capital funds.

The Women Leadership Programme: 7 female-entrepreneurs trained to improve their leadership skills.

With the Supernovas programme, we are aiming to support women from the entrepreneurship ecosystem. On one hand, we support women entrepreneurs, since only 15% of deep-tech startups are founded or co-founded by women. But also, on the other hand, we work to increase the presence of women in investment roles. Currently only 13% of venture capital partners are women. With Supernovas we are promoting a balanced women’s presence across entrepreneurship professional roles.
