Calling for emerging game changers to accelerate the transition to net zero

Is your business idea focused on helping companies achieve net zero targets? Is your company based in Portugal or Spain? If you answered yes to both questions, BoostUp! IBERIA 2024 call is your opportunity to become an award-winning innovator in net zero technologies.

BoostUp! IBERIA 2024 is one of the competition series organised by EIT Manufacturing to identify and support promising startups. The purpose of the first Iberian edition, focus on “Net Zero Industry”, is to act as a catalyst for tangible, scalable innovations to reduce industrial carbon emissions. This startup competition aims to empower Iberian entrepreneurs by providing them with the knowledge, resources and networks necessary to play a pivotal role in the net zero transition.

Initially, the call is open to all Spanish and Portuguese startups working on net-zero technologies for Industry 4.0, with an early eligibility check and evaluation taking place in October. The shortlisted candidates will move on to the second phase and will have the opportunity to present their idea during an exciting in-person final event on 4 December in Porto, Portugal.

What’s in it for you?

In brief, the three winners may expect:

  • Support for internationalisation
  • Visibility and access to EIT Manufacturing’s network
  • Prize awards: EUR 7 000 (1st), EUR 5 000 (2nd), EUR 3 000 (3rd)

On top of that, if you succeed in becoming one of the shortlisted finalists from the initial phase, EIT Manufacturing West will provide you with the dedicated support for a duration of two months, to help you achieve your goals.

Who can apply?

BoostUp! IBERIA 2024 – Net Zero Industry is seeking applications from Spanish and Portuguese startups working on Net Zero Technologies for Industry 4.0. In relation to this activity, and in order to respond to the major challenges shared by the manufacturing industry and society, EIT Manufacturing will be driven by its Strategic Objectives (SOs), as set out in the Strategic Agenda 2021-2027:

  • Put people at the centre of manufacturing
  • Accelerate green manufacturing
  • Foster sovereignty and competitiveness

Submissions need to address solutions in the realm of manufacturing technologies, in particular Net Zero in Industry 4.0 and fit, at least, one of the following technology domains:

How can you apply?

The following documentation must be submitted by the applicants through the submission platform by 17:00 CEST on 11 October 2024:

  • Company pitch deck: the document must be tailored to a 3-minute presentation
  • Company logo
  • Company Registration Certificate

NOTE: Only applications submitted through the online link before the deadline will be accepted and considered. The organisers reserve the right to extend the submission deadline; any extension of the deadline will be communicated to the public on the competition website.

Key dates and milestones

  • Call opening: 23 August 2024

  • Eligibility and admissibility check: until 14 October 2024 – POSTPONED
  • 1st phase – evaluation of proposals and selection of finalists: 28 October 2024 – POSTPONED
  • Announcement of finalists for the 2nd phase: 30 October 2024 – POSTPONED
  • 2nd phase – live pitch session during the in-person final event: 4 December 2024 (Porto)
  • Communication of results: A jury deliberation meeting will take place directly after the pitch session. Right after the jury decision is taken, the results will be announced publicly during the event.
