Educational and training activities are at the core of our vision, aiming to educate and train future and current industrial workforce according to market needs. The industrial transformation that is taking place highlights the critical role of human capital.

Therefore, talented people are crucial to the future leadership of global high-value manufacturing. EIT Manufacturing’s education programmes will provide innovative, customised and industry-driven knowledge and the ultimate skills in order to shape the future of manufacturing.
These will address all ages, jobs and levels of qualification, providing close-to-reality education and training supported by latest technologies, methods and interactive learning experiences in realistic industrial environments.

EIT Manufacturing wants to empower European companies with people that are capable and inspired to shape the future of manufacturing, by delivering three programmes.

Empower
programme
  • Bachelor/ Master/ PhD programmes, which aim at skilling young pupils and students.

  • Professional trainings at and around workplace, by upskilling professionals as well as reskilling people for new tasks and professions in future manufacturing.

Connect
programme
  • Create the Guided Learning Platform (GLP), the most ambitious learning platform in the manufacturing sector. It combines learning-related facilities, open access to digital learning content and tailor-made learning paths.

  • Create Digital Learning Nuggets, module combinations tailored to each individual learner’s journey.

  • Interact with Learning/Teaching Factories, by interlinking learners to each other, facilities and content.

Engage
programme
  • Engage Society, to provide opportunities and get first-hand impressions of industrial and research establishments.

  • Engage Pupils, the young talents that are vital as future workforce.

  • Cross-Industry Engagement, to promote fertilisation and networking across industries and to establish communities of practice.

The EIT Manufacturing innovation programmes will bring new technologies to the market and develop new value chains around hotspots. These will maximise impacts by rapid identification and early stimulation of innovation hotspots, which are defined as situations where enabling technologies can solve complex manufacturing problems and add substantial value and significantly contribute to industry transformation.

Our initiatives will put tools and processes in place to lead to the launch, development and growth of new products, services, processes and integrated solutions to face the future challenges of manufacturing.

Each activity will, therefore, comprise the essential ingredients to accelerate innovation: people (and their knowledge and skills), enabling infrastructure and enabling (blended) finance.

Launch
programme
  • Identify future trends, emerging technologies or disruptive technology combinations that have strong potential, through the Enabling Technologies and Customer Radar, a powerful digital tool for technology foresight and business intelligence that provides solid information to launch innovation hotspots.

  • Select and prioritise Innovation Hotspots, through the European Manufacturing (Open) Innovation Platform (EMIP) that ensures all sides of the knowledge triangle are considered.

Develop
programme
  • Accelerate potential technologies and business models towards a higher level of readiness.

  • Accelerate potential technologies and business models towards a higher level of readiness.

  • Accelerate potential technologies and business models towards a higher level of readiness.

Grow
programme
  • Drive the transformation of the existing manufacturing tissue in Europe by fostering adoption of new technologies and business models. This programme will bring three key elements to succeed in transforming companies: Programme launch, Financial support and People support.

EIT Manufacturing will create an encouraging environment for business creation and support entrepreneurs, researchers, start-ups, scale-ups and established companies.

Business Creation activities will be channeled through three programmes that ensure the creation, acceleration and transformation of the companies that will lead Europe’s Manufacturing Innovation. These are aimed at creating European gazelles – high-growth ambitious companies which, through their unique know how and ambitious strategy, can achieve high rates of value-added job creation.

Create
programme
  • Maximise the potential of new manufacturing start-ups, by delivering training, coaching and community support to the next generation of European gazelles.

Accelerate
programme
  • Accelerate and scale up promising European manufacturing technology companies-unlocking growth by developing new solutions and markets.

Transform
programme
  • Drive the transformation of the existing manufacturing tissue in Europe by fostering adoption of new technologies and business models. This programme will bring three key elements to succeed in transforming companies: Programme launch, Financial support and People support.

All these programmes will be implemented through specific activities:

  • Enable People activities will provide participants with the expertise and skills to deploy new business models and grow

  • Enable Innovation activities are intended to give participants access to new industry sectors and geographies, providing them with knowledge on customer needs and local support to adapt technologies and competencies when capturing new markets

  • Enable Business activities will provide the financial leverage to deploy ambitious business plans, allowing them to capitalise on the knowledge and market access they have received through the programme, and embark on a new growth phase

The Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) is the EIT Community’s outreach scheme. This scheme enables the transfer of good practices and know-how from the EIT’s unique approach to boosting innovation.

The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme was introduced in 2014 to share good practices and experience emerging from EIT Community activities and to widen participation in our activities across Europe.

The objective of the EIT RIS is to contribute to boosting the ability to innovate of countries and regions in Europe that belong to the groups of so-called ‘modest and moderate’ innovators.
